How did I get those darn wrinkles anyway?
Wrinkles. Search the web and you will find scads of articles and “cures”. Ads cleverly written to lure you into the belief that they have the holy grail of wrinkle remedies. The “one” you have been destined to find. Here’s the bad news. They all lie. There isn’t any one miracle cream to instantly and permanently rid you of those pesky tell all aging lines, wrinkles. But before you throw yourself on the ground in despair I do have some good news for you! You CAN diminish and erase wrinkles over time. It’s really just science and not abracadabra.
I won’t bore you with a lot of research and huge words that you have never heard of. However, I will give you the basics so you can see how simple this dilemma is.
As you age your skin gets thinner, dries out faster and loses elasticity. Sun damage adds to this process when UV light breaks down the collagen and elastin fibers in the skin. So as the skin breaks down, it sags and the dreaded wrinkles begin to form.
What makes them really go away?
Ah, before I reveal how skincare plays a part in this I want to share with you other key elements to less wrinkles. Your diet is a key factor to the health of your skin. Skincare alone will not give you lasting results. Great skin is dependent on proper nutrients for optimal function. Your skin needs lycopene ( a good source is tomatoes) to prevent UV damage. It also needs flavonoids, polyphenols, & vitamins (found in berries). Antioxidents to fight off free radicals (like Green Tea & honey) & Probiotics (found in yogurt & kefir). Don’t forget fish or walnuts as source for your Omega 3 fatty acids. Other nuts cans provide Vitamin E which is essential to good skin. Water should be your BFF daily! But you knew that already right?
Extreme environmental factors can speed up the aging process as well. Sun damage is the most talked about, but extreme cold can damage skin as well. Pollution is a culprit to making you look your age. Dirt & grime stretching your pores. Wash that face each night! Beauty rest is called that for a reason! Lack of sleep can change the PH balance of your skin causing it to lose hydration.
Keep Calm & keep the wrinkles away. Stress can elevate the blood sugar and cause damage to the collagen and elastin fibers in the skin. Avoiding sugar is another way to reduce the damage to these fibers as well.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css_animation=”none”]
What can I do to improve my skin health?
Now for the part skincare plays in anti-aging. It may sound pretty basic to say cleanse your face each night but you need to cleanse it in the morning as well. Why? The skin releases toxins at night while you are sleeping. You don’t want to apply skincare or makeup on top of that!
There’s a lot of confusion when it comes to exfoliating the skin. Actually you only need to do this a few times per week and only once per week for sensitive skin. When you exfoliate too much it can cause irritations and damage to the skin. You want to remove dead skin cells via exfoliation to aid in the skin cell regeneration process. Did you know that your skin turns itself over once every 6 weeks? The other question is when to exfoliate? Before or after cleansing the skin? It’s really best to do it first because you want to get the most dirt and debris cleansed. I use a gentle cleanser after I exfoliate to remove the excess product and cleanse the skin prior to applying a treatment or serum. My routine is that I don’t wear full make up daily so I reserve exfoliation for those days when I have extra makeup on or have used a lot of sunscreen on a beach day. Mermaid Minerals Hibiscus foaming cleanser is perfect for gentle exfoliating. Using our Ocean Mineral Masque is suggested for use at least once per week.
Mermaid Minerals Ocean Mineral Skincare System utilizes seaweed-infused skin care to re-mineralize, renew & restore your skin. Seaweed is a natural UV protectorant, and promotes collagen & elastin production & contains 10x more vitamins & trace elements than botanicals.
How can seaweed get rid of my wrinkles?
The Secrets of Seaweed
Algae, aka “Seaweed,” is one of natures greatest gift to skin care. It’s rich antioxidants protects your skin against free radical damage and deprivation of collagen. Seaweed has the ability to soften, hydrate and detoxify your skin while replenishing essential vitamins and minerals. Algae is naturally rich in Alguronic Acid which increases the production of elastin in the skin. Lack of elastin is what gives us wrinkles!
Seaweed Proteins act as collagen building precursors; a key to anti-aging. Seaweed in your skin care actually prevents further breakdown of collagen which naturally leads your skin to produce more collagen.
Seaweed is high in trace elements, including copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium and zinc.
Seaweed contains vitamins as well such as; A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B12, C, D, E and K. Since Seaweed lacks a root system it absorbs rich nutrients from the seawater itself. Seaweed is 10 times richer in trace elements than land plants! All skin types can benefit from Seaweed extracts.
Now what? After you have cleansed and/or exfoliated skin you are ready to apply a treatment or serum. Think of this a vitamin for your skin. Serums tend to have a concentrated amount of product and are treating the skin for specific issues. You can achieve results from using a skincare routine. Your skin will respond to daily does of nutrients and micro-nutrients.
Following cleansed skin apply Mermaid Ocean Minerals Serum & Vitamin C Serum. Protection from the sun does not have to come from sunscreen alone. I hear a lot of ladies say that they just don’t want to apply sunscreen daily so it is important to get as much sun protection as possible. Topical vitamin C has now been shown to provide up to eight times the skin’s natural protection from UV damage. Vitamin C protects your skin from the sun in ways that sunscreens can’t.
This power house serum has a host of building blocks of anti-aging botanical & marine extracts.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) – MSM has a unique ability to absorb deeply into pores, rejuvenating cells and intensely hydrating skin. MSM also promotes collagen production. MSM improves skin elasticity and helps to prevent sagging.
Rose Hip Seed Oil – Rose Hip Oil has the ability to penetrate deep into the skin due to the small Vitamin A molecule and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
Algae Keratin Extract – Seaweed can regenerate itself up to 2′ per day in prime growing condition. Marine extracts promote cell renewal and protect your cells membranes. It targets pigmentation as well such as sun or age spots.
